  1. Singing Bowl Granola

April 21, 2017 by Tessa Bousfield

Singing Bowl Granola produces big taste, high quality artisan granolas and specialty organic porridges… and all from right here in Victoria!

They use organic oats from Canadian family-run farms, and chemical-free natural ingredients to create their delicious granolas and porridges. The products are handmade in small batches at a commercial kitchen in Victoria and they bake every week so the granola is always supplied fresh to order to store shelves and cafés.

Jessica Duncan is the brains and palette behind Singing Bowl Granola. She started it in 2011 at the James Bay Market after being a teacher for years and witnessing children eating items that weren’t very healthy. After making her own granola, she decided to turn it into a business!

You can purchase Singing Bowl Granola in 400g or 1kg bags from Market on Yates, Market on Millstream, Red Barn Market and even a few Save on Foods locations, plus at the Sidney Market in the summer. www.singingbowlgranola.com

  2. Opening soon to a tasting room & trampoline park near you…

April 7, 2017 by Tessa Bousfield

We learned this week that Merridale Cidery will be opening a tasting room at Dockside Green in 2018! This is fantastic news for those of us that can’t get enough of this local cider or their delicious baked goods and savoury dishes. Not only will they offer cider and food, but they will continue their vodka, gin and brandy distillery business, and even dive into beer!  Their current site is located in Cobble Hill, and their 2nd spot will soon be about 200 steps right across the bridge 🙂

Also opening soon is the Flying Squirrel Trampoline Park set to open it’s doors at 808 Viewfield Rd, Esquimalt this May. It’s a “Laser tag, Tron-light-show, trampoline, internet cafe” kinda thing, it has a slam dunk arena and is actually Canada’s largest indoor trampoline fun park! You can stick to jumping around or you can play dodgeball, dive into the foam pits, balance on slack lines and when you need a refreshment… YES, there’s a bar! This will be a great spot for group parties.

Pricing starts at $20 an hour for adults. Click here for all pricing options. Depending on your age and exercise routine, you may want to warm up and stretch beforehand too…
