    Rick May could just be the most interesting man on the Island. He’s worked, toured live and recorded with many great artists including: guitarist Andy Summers (the Police), Depeche Mode and members of Devo. He was a zombie extra in Michael Jackson’s Thriller, he has one helluva beard and he runs Pro Jam Spaces in Victoria, BC.

    It has always been Rick’s goal to provide a creative and quality controlled environment for the multitudes of local Victoria musicians trying to perfect their live show, write new material, prepare for an upcoming recording session or just have some fun.

    These studios-for-rent are clean and comfortable with low rates that include PA systems, lounge areas, kitchenettes, complimentary coffee, tea, and more.

  3. Accio Rides

    Accio Rides is an Uber-like rideshare app, but it’s made by a local Victoria company.

    We wrote about Accio last year when they launched their delivery service, and now they’re getting ready to launch the new ride service once regulations are passed here.

    Users just need to download the app from AccioRides.com and tap in their pick up location and destination. While the driver is on their way, the app let’s you know what the total cost of the ride is, and it will bill it directly to your uploaded payment method. No tip is required, it’s completely cashless.

  4. BattleSnake 2016

    BattleSnake is a programming competition held in Victoria, BC and organized by local startup company, Sendwithus. The next one is scheduled for February 20th at UVic’s ECS Building (1st Floor).

    Teams of students and developers build web-based AIs for the classic arcade game “Snake”. Multiple teams will compete on the same board at the same time, and the winner will be the last team slithering!

    There will be over $2,500 in prizes given away throughout the day, across two tournament brackets. The Classic Bracket will feature familiar gameplay mechanics and have a grand prize of $300. The new Advanced Bracket will offer new gameplay mechanics and a $1,000 grand prize.
