FTS (Forest Technology Systems), began in 1980 with a focus on the fire weather meteorological niche. Since then, FTS has become a leading manufacturer of remote environmental monitoring systems, instrumentation and communications technology for the Hydrology, Fire Weather and Meteorology industries. And they’re right here in Victoria!

Their equipment forms the backbone of some of the world’s most sophisticated and demanding environment monitoring networks. They can literally predict the movement of forest fires!

Have a listen below as Dan Gunn discusses them on the B-Side on the Zone@91.3fm.

    makerspace

A Makerspace is a member operated shared space where people come together and collaborate while sharing tools, resources and knowledge. One tool can be effectively duplicated many times over by sharing it, in the same way that our learning experiences are shared.

The Victoria Makerspace is located at the Vancouver Island Technology Park and the space is created, used and maintained by members. From a metal bandsaw to the laser cutter, all members are making it work.

Have a listen below to Dan Gunn discussing Victoria Makerspace in more detail on the Zone@91.3fm!
